Coleman Engineering provided extensive pre-design services followed by the design of multiple improvements to an existing surface water treatment plant located in Alta, CA. Improvements that required assessment and design to increase maximum plant flow rate included: new raw water pumps and MCC with VFD’s, influent strainer, static mixer, influent raw water meter and rate of flow control valve, new pressure filters with air scour systems, backwash pump, in-plant water system and new genset with ATS. In addition, improvements were designed for the interior building walls to create concrete splash walls and remove timber framing that had rotted over the years. An additional study was made of system operations to determine ways to increase CT prior to the first customer.
