Coleman Engineering provided professional engineering services to Spalding Community Services District in support of the Sewer Pond Ballast Project. The project eliminated the need to pump ground water in order to keep sufficient weight on the pond liners to keep them from being damaged from local winds. Coleman Engineering provided civil design necessary to develop bid ready plans, technical specifications, and contracting documents for implementation of a ballast project. The design included the following components:
Ballast
Place ballast in two ponds, Pond #2 (top dimension approx. 800’ x 300’) and Pond #3 (top dimension approx. 800’ x 500’)
Install approximately 4,790 feet of reinforced polypropylene tubing, filled with sand
Layout and configuration of the ballast
Existing site features included:
Ponds lined with a 60 mil HDPE liner
Liner adequately anchored at the top
Ponds were accessible during the installation of the ballasts
