Tracy Hills Zone 3 Tank & Booster Pump Station Project
Project Overview
Coleman Engineering provided engineering services during construction for the City of Tracy’s Tracy Hills Phase 1A / 1BZone 3 Tank and Booster Pump Station Project. The project included a 4-million-gallon partially buried DN Tanks prestressed concrete water storage tank and an associated booster pump station with vertical turbine pumps, hydropneumatic tank, chemical dosing system, pipelines, and site improvements. In addition to providing submittal reviews and responses to RFIs, Coleman Engineering assisted with design revisions to the tank and booster pump station control strategy, and with the provision of a Monochlor chlorine residual monitoring and dosing system in lieu of a conventional hypochlorite chemical injection system with a Solar Bee mechanical mixer in the tank.
Key Challenges & Solutions
Changing to a Monochlor chlorine residual monitoring and dosing system during construction at the City’s request. This required extensive modification to the existing design plans. Close coordination with the City’s O&M lead, developer, prime consultant, and the Contractor using constructability meetings led to smooth implementation.
